It’s 66 years since Mayo won a Senior All-Ireland football title. Mayo’s last triumph was over Meath on September 23rd, 1951.
The team of ’51 were a resilient and passionate group of committed players. Paddy Prendergast and Padraig Carney are the only survivor members of that team.
CCR’s Catherine Lavery recently visited Paddy Prendergast at his home in Tralee, to reminise about the Mayo football team of 1948 – 1951 and the highs and lows leading up to the unforgettable finals of 1950 and ’51.
Tune in this Sunday, September 10th, at 6pm to hear Paddy tell his story.
