Presentation to Residents of Sligo Direct Provision

On Wednesday, Claremorris Community Radio chairperson Pat Keane and trainer John Nolan travelled to Sligo to present certificates to the students who completed our QQI Level 3 course in Media Expression last Summer.

10 students completed the course, during the months of June and July. Lessons took place in the Avalon Centre and at the studios of Claremorris Community Radio.

Claremorris Community Radio congratulates all the students who completed the course. They are: Austin Mukungu, Lamin Kamara, Fahmida Begum, Mahboob Khan, Kondwani Ngwira, Abiola Oyerinde, Loveth Oyiboka, Alieu Manoh Sesay, Nasteh Sugulle and Zaki Ahmed.

As always, the students completed a radio programme as part of their submitted work during the course. If you missed the broadcast of this show, it is now available on our online archive at www.mixcloud.com/claremorrisfm/around-the-globe-house-life-in-direct-provision-in-sligo/

Claremorris Community Radio would like to thank Sligo Leader Partnership, Bridgestock Ltd. and the Avalon Centre for their assistance and cooperation in the running of this course.

Upcoming courses

CCR are hosting several courses over the next two months.

We will be delivering a 10-week QQI (FETAC) Level 4 training programme in Radio Production and Presentation Skills.

Starting the last week in October, training will take place on Wednesdays (10am to 3pm). Admission is €250 p/p. However, if you are currently unemployed and in receipt of a social welfare payment, we can assist you in applying for a grant to cover the full registration cost of the course.

The second course will be on the topic of fundraising and will be hosted by Cleo De Vito. It will take place on a Saturday (either Nov. 18th or 25th, tbc) for circa 6 hours, from 10am to 4pm. This course is free, open to all members, and no prior experience is necessary.

If you’re interested in either course, please get in touch with the office on 094 9373737 or email admin@ccr946.ie.

Media course graduation

The graduates from our most recently completed FETAC/QQI media course received their certificates last night in a short ceremony which took place in the Dalton Inn.

Our chairperson, Johnny Kirrane, presented the certificates and congratulated the students on their successful completion of the course.

The course, carried out under the auspices of CRAOL and funded by the Community Foundation for Ireland, took place in the last three months of 2015.  For more information, please visit speakingupforachange.org
