Lime Use: Old and New, a new radio documentary by Cleo deVito, will be broadcast on Sunday next (May 17th) at 2pm.
Did you know that lime is an antiseptic? Or that lime walls prevent a build-up of damp by “breathing out” moisture from the home? In Lime Use: Old and New Cleo explains the benefits of using lime as a plaster, mortar or wash in building.
Lime is also ecologically friendly – it has a lower carbon footprint than cement.
This documentary also explores Westport House, as an example of lime use in an historic building, and also describes the many new, sustainable buildings using lime.
If you miss Lime Use: Old and New on Sunday, it will be repeated the following day (Monday, May 18th) at 8pm.
