This Friday is Community Radio Day and, to mark this event, you are invited to our tea/coffee morning at our Studios from 10 am to 12 noon. Join us for a chat and meet the volunteers and faces behind the voices on Claremorris Community Radio.
Also on Friday morning, we will link up with Athlone Community Radio to broadcast a special two hour show to mark Community Radio Day. This show will be aired from 11am to 1pm, straight after the Good Morning Show.
So come on in! We are looking forward to welcoming you to our (and your) community radio station.
Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day for Claremorris Community Radio. Saturday, May 5th, is Mayo Day and, to mark the occasion, a group of our members will be in attendance at the flagship event, Made of Mayo in Ballinrobe Racecourse.
The outside broadcast will commence at 12 noon and will run right through until 4pm. Catherine Lavery, Anthony McNicholas, Ann Urich, Ed Coulson and Eleanor Prendergast will be on the ground at the event, interviewing stall holders and anyone else of interest.
At 6pm, Michael McLoughlin will host a three-hour special live music show, from our studio one. Michael will be joined by Pat and Anthony Staunton, Paul Greenan, Branco O’Keeffe and many other local musicians. The show will be broadcast from 6pm right through to 9pm.
Later that night, the first Sports Roadshow of 2018 will take place in the Claremorris GAA Clubhouse.
This weekend the Claremorris GAA Club are honouring the county championship teams of 1964-65. At 6pm Claremorris will play Salthill-Knocknacarra for the Seán McManamon Cup. Then, at 9pm, the county championship winning teams will be presented with special trophies to mark their achievements. This presentation will be covered live, on our Facebook page, by the station.
It will also be recorded for transmission – which will take place on the following day, at 5pm.
Claremorris Community Radio presents On Board the Poetry Surprise Tour for Poetry Day Ireland 2018!
The board of Claremorris Community Radio consists of seven people with very varied experiences of poetry; some of them read it, some of them write it and some of them don’t remember when they last saw a poem!
On Poetry Day Ireland, you can join the board of the station when they each contribute three poems to be read and discussed. These may be poems they know and love, ones they remember fondly from the past or only discovered recently – perhaps even poems they loathe! They may be poems everyone has heard before or ones by new or little-known writers. Who knows? This is a programme of poetry surprises.
Listen in on 94.6 FM, in the Claremorris area, or listen live through the website right here. The show will be aired on Poetry Day Ireland, Thursday 26th April, at 8.00 pm. (The show will be repeated on Saturday, 28 April, at 7.00 pm).
