Cannonball Run

The 2017 Cannonball Run is coming to Claremorris on this Saturday, September 9th.

Cannonball Run is the largest organised road trip in Europe and an exciting cross between high-end motoring and charity.   The trip typically features 190 cars including the world’s top makes: McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Masseratti, Rolls Royce and Bentley.  Over 150,000 people will line the streets of the various towns the Cannonball visits.

The Cannonball is due to arrive in Claremorris at 3pm.  Traffic restrictions will be in place on the day from approximately 1pm until 6pm.

CCR will be covering the event live.  Our outside broadcast team of Catherine Lavery O’Brien, Bernard Joyce and Dermot Smyth will be broadcasting from the square from 3-5pm.

Tune in to hear our hosts as they speak to the drivers, organising team and indeed the crowd lining the streets!

Donation to Pieta House

The presentation of a cheque for €1,500 to Pieta House in Tuam (l-r): Pat Keane, CCR Chair, Austin Garvin, Donna Burke, Pieta House, Billy Fitzpatrick, Micheál McLoughlin, Catherine Lavery and Allan Tiernan, CCR manager.

Thank you to everyone who supported our ‘Will Galway bate Mayo?‘ score prediction competition back in June. Overall, the terrific sum of €3,000 was raised for the radio station and our partner Pieta House.

This morning, several members of Claremorris Community Radio travelled to Tuam to present Pieta House with a cheque for €1,500.

Congratulations to all involved in the running of this very successful event.
