Listen to our award-winning shows

Since our establishment, Claremorris Community Radio has been very successful in the annual CRAOL awards, which recognise quality in production of community radio in Ireland.  Over the past 11 years, 21 locally-produced shows have received one of these accolades.

For some time now, we’ve listed our award-winning shows right here on the site.  However, over the past week, we have made a determined trawl through the station’s archive, with the hope of making each of these shows available for the public.

Happily, this search has proved very fruitful and, at time of the publication of this story, we have found all but one of our CRAOL winners.  You can listen back to them simply by visiting the CRAOL award winners page and clicking on the title of each show.

Two CRAOL awards for CCR

CRAOL award 2016Claremorris Community Radio was recognised at the annual CRAOL Féile event, which took place in Dublin last weekend. The yearly gathering of representatives from all of Ireland’s community radio stations features the annual CRAOL awards.

This year saw two CCR programmes winning awards.  The Amber Show, our weekly English-Latvian show hosted by Skarleta Mukane and Noel Lyons, received a merit in the ‘Social Benefit (Talk)’ category.

Last year’s epic documentary The Murder of Fr Jordan was honoured with a distinction in the ‘Commissioned Programming’ category, with the judges commending the production as a “captivating, historically significant story” that was “brought to life and relevance nearly 400 years later by Claremorris Community Radio”.  Congratulations to everyone involved with the production!

Pat Keane, Emmett Macken and Michelle O’Connor represented the station at this year’s Féile and recevied the awards on behalf of the station.
