Anthony Raftery is one of Ireland’s most famous poets and was born in Killedan, near Kiltimagh. The son of a weaver, he was blinded by small pox while very young. One of the last wandering poets he he moved between Tuam, Gort and Craughwell, where he died in 1835.
So tune in on Saturday the 2nd of January at 12pm and if you miss it the show will be repeated on Monday the 4th of January at 1pm.

President Higgins has a short message for the nation, to remember the year past and look forward to the New Year.
As a gesture to all those who have died, or who have lost a loved-one during the past year, President Higgins and Sabina have invited Dan McCabe to perform ‘The Parting Glass’ at Áras an Uachtaráin for New Year’s Eve. The performance serves to remember the year that was, and to bring 2020 to a close, with a thought for them all.
Claremorris Community Radio 94.6 FM will broadcast the President’s message at 9pm tonight, the 31st of December, before the daily Mass broadcast.
