Talented broadcaster Niamh O’Kelly, launches two new radio shows this week with us. Having being involved in radio for the past decade, Niamh brings her expertise and knowledge in a light-hearted but informative way.
The definitions of Serendipity is ‘good luck in making unexpected and fortunate discoveries’, and that’s exactly what will happen 5pm every Thursday! You’ll never know what will turn up – from classical music to pop, Beethoven to The Beatles and all woven seamlessly together with stories, history & anecdotes.
Every Sunday 5pm, travel down memory lane with all the ‘golden-oldies’ you know, or maybe even a few that slipped by you. But it’s not just about the music, Sentimental Journey is peppered with all kinds of information (and even a wee bit of gossip from time to time)! So, get yourself a cup of tea and join Niamh for an hour of nostalgia as together you travel on your – Sentimental Journey.
Niamh studied singing, composition and piano at the College of Music, Dublin, The Royal College of Music, London, the Leopold Mozart Konservatorium, Augsburg, Germany and the University of Limerick where she received an MA in Chant & Ritual Song.
She is a recipient of the Golden Voice of Ireland award, two Arts Council scholarships and a Richard Wagner scholarship to Bayreuth, Germany. From 1981-’94 she was the Director of Music for the U.S. Army in Augsburg, Germany and from 1999-2001 she was Musician in Residence for Mayo County Council.
Her eclectic taste and knowledge covers a vast mosaic of musical genres from Classical to Big Band, and from World Music to traditional Irish music, and her own compositions are published by the GIA, High Meadow Publishers and Lorenz Inc. publishers, in the USA.
