Garrymore GAA – Half a Parish Against the Odds available on Mixcloud

The Radio documentary titled “Garrymore GAA: Half a Parish Against the Odds” is available on Claremorris Community Radio’s Mixcloud account.

It tells the story of how a small, half-parish GAA club worked patiently over 4 decades to build a team that would eventually win a legendary 6 county titles & even make it to an All-Ireland club final in 1982.

The hour-long documentary was produced by Billy Fitzpatrick & is presented by Mike Finnerty. Former players & management join Mike & Billy to take listeners from the club’s beginnings through its ups & downs, to reveal the lasting effect its remarkable success has had on community identity in Garrymore.

Contributors include former players Declan Heaney, Vincent Nally, Mattie Joe Connolly, Danny Dolan, Brian Healy, Padraig Flannery, Pat Dixon & John Nally. The programme also features a song written by Billy Fitzpatrick & specially recorded by Small Tom with production by John Murphy of Kiltimagh.
