Special Christmas shows

Christmas-RadioOver this Christmas period, the station will be broadcasting several special programmes alongside some well-known favourites.  A few highlights from the Christmas schedule include:

  • 6pm, 24th Dec.: Spiorad na Nollaig, an Irish language programme featuring music and poetry, hosted by Pat Keane.  (repeated 5pm, 27th Dec.)
  • 12 noon, 25th Dec.: Postcard and Cool Together, two radio plays produced in CCR over the past year.
  • 1pm, 25th Dec.: A second chance to hear Shauna, Dearbhible and Elizabeth, three fifth year students from Mount St. Michael, who performed their favourite Christmas carols in our studios last week.  Followed by the documentary The Bells of St. Mel’s.  (repeated 6pm, Dec. 28th)
  • 6pm, 25th Dec.: Listen to the full recording of the children of Scoil Mhuire gan Smal performing the songs of Christmas. (repeated 4pm, 26th Dec.)
  • 8pm, 25th Dec.: Another chance to hear the brilliant documentary The Murder of Fr. Jordan.
  • 11am, 26th Dec.: Local poet Pat Macken performs a festive work of his own composition, followed by the documentary Three Kings. (repeated 8pm, 28th Dec.)
  • 12 noon and 6pm, 26th Dec.: Another chance to hear two documentaries created by Cleo de Vito this year.  Lime Use (noon) and The Wild Foods of Mayo (6pm).
