CCR volunteer positions

1. Presenters/Producers
Present your own weekly, fortnightly or monthly radio show! Music, chat, sports .. . anything that interests you, in any style or genre. It’s your show! We will give you all the training and support you need to produce and present your very own show. NO previous experience required. Basic familiarity using computers is recommended. We do ask that you give a commitment of a number of months, since we give you extensive training.

Team up!
Newbies are given the opportunity to sit in on live shows hosted by experienced volunteers. Watch, listen … and even join in the chat, to gain experience and confidence.

Other team opportunities include: two-person shows, appearing as a guest in panel discussions, joining the local news team, and more…

¿Habla usted español? Parlez-vous français?
Foreign-language presenters are welcome to produce a show entirely in your native language.

2. News Presenters
Join our team of volunteer News Presenters ! You will have the opportunity to present brief updates on local, national and international news, sports and weather as part of our live morning shows. The role includes researching and choosing news items to present. You would commit to presenting one news broadcast weekly to start. No experience is necessary—we provide full training.

3. Researchers – local activities and events
Every morning, our volunteer presenters host a “Good Morning” show live from 9 -11 am. “What’s happening in the Claremorris area” is a vital part of that show, and your role as researcher would be to collect and compile interesting events, awards, opportunities, courses, entertainment, club news and other local activities. These compiled local activities would then be presented by a “Good Morning” show host.

4. Irish-language speakers
Tá Raidió Pobail Clár Chlainne Mhuiris ag lorg daoine líofa sa Ghaeilge atá suim acu i gcaolacháin raidió teacht i g-obair leis an stáisiún. Cuirfear traenáil agus tacaíocht ar fáil aghs gach rud a theastaíonn uait chun do chlár féin a chraoladh. Cuirfear failte roimh aon cineál clár. Ní ga aon taithí ar chor ar bith a bheith agat.

Claremorris Community Radio are looking for Irish speakers who are interested in radio to join the station. We will provide all the training and support you need to produce and present your very own show. Any style or genre. NO previous experience required.

Report from this week’s Volunteer meeting

Thanks to all who attended last night’s volunteer meeting. It was lovely to see so many and some new faces were very welcome also. It was a productive meeting on many counts:

  1. We are looking for volunteers to man OB next Friday the 19th between 9 and 5pm and also to host interested members of the public to view the radio station on that day.
  2. We are looking for volunteers to man collection at Tesco, the Post Office and Supervalu on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th July and also to partake in an OB on the 18th.
  3. The group started some tidying and organising of CDs in Studio 1.
  4. A new promo, inviting groups to get involved, was made.
  5. The station toilet got a good deep clean!
  6. Reminder re some membership fees still being due.
  7. Congrats were expressed re CRAOL Féile Awards for Mayo Grammy and A Tribute to Gordon.

Some good ideas for future events were tendered. And some ideas about rejuvenating promos etc were also expressed. There was a good buzz of enthusiasm at the meeting. Hopefully this will continue long into the future!
