Last weekend saw CCR 946 airing the first epiosde of Claremorris to Kitui, a three programme series which follows Claremorris lady (and CCR volunteer) Janet Corbin-Hinchion as she divides her life between her voluntary educational work in Kitui, Kenya, and fundraising at home here in County Mayo.
In the opening episode, which was broadcast on Saturday, Janet organises a charity walk to raise funds for her work in Kitui. You can listen back to the show on our cloudcasting platform mixcloud.com at the following address: www.mixcloud.com/claremorrisfm/claremorris-to-kitui-episode-1
Claremorris to Kitui continues on Saturdays at 5 p.m.
On Saturday, November 30th, Claremorris will be going back to the 1980s. Our very own DJ Eamonn Kelly will host a night of nostalgia as we remember the legend that was The Hideout nightclub.
Alas, The Hideout has not been in business for several decades so this fun night will take place upstairs in the excellent Maxwell’s Bar.
The night itself will kick off at 10pm and will feature DJ Eamonn and his collection of actual vinyl records keeping the dancers dancing right through until 2.30 in the morning!
Proceeds from the night will go to both Claremorris Community Radio and Protect, an organisation established by Claremorris native Janet Corbin-Hinchion which rescues children in Kenya from child labour. Tickets cost just €10 and are available right now from the radio station, Maxwell’s, The Food Store, Shine, the Hospice Shop, Flynn’s Pharmacy and the Family Resource Centre.
For more info, please contact the radio station on 094 9373737.
