Cannonball Run

The 2017 Cannonball Run is coming to Claremorris on this Saturday, September 9th.

Cannonball Run is the largest organised road trip in Europe and an exciting cross between high-end motoring and charity.   The trip typically features 190 cars including the world’s top makes: McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Masseratti, Rolls Royce and Bentley.  Over 150,000 people will line the streets of the various towns the Cannonball visits.

The Cannonball is due to arrive in Claremorris at 3pm.  Traffic restrictions will be in place on the day from approximately 1pm until 6pm.

CCR will be covering the event live.  Our outside broadcast team of Catherine Lavery O’Brien, Bernard Joyce and Dermot Smyth will be broadcasting from the square from 3-5pm.

Tune in to hear our hosts as they speak to the drivers, organising team and indeed the crowd lining the streets!

Send messages for Mayo Day

This Saturday is Mayo Day, a day when people at home and abroad celebrate all that is good about this great county and its citizens.

Here at Claremorris Community Radio we will broadcast several special live shows to mark the day:

  • 9-11am: The Good Morning Show, hosted by Pat Keane
  • 12-1pm: Ollie’s Jukebox, live from Claremorris Credit Union
  • 1-2pm: Girls’ Talk, live from Claremorris Credit Union
  • 2-3pm: Afternoon Delight, live from Claremorris Credit Union
  • 4-6pm: Catherine Lavery meets The High Kings

Throughout the day, our hosts will also be delivering any messages to friends and families who find themselves away from Mayo.  Look out for our forms, which have been placed in public venues around the town.  You can simply write in a message and the name of the person who you wish to send it to.  We are asking for a small donation of €2 for each message.

If you can’t find one of our forms, you can still submit a message.  The station is testing our a new system of communication: WhatsApp.  If you have WhatsApp on your phone or tablet, please feel free to submit a message for a loved one to this number: 087 1744293. In fact, should you so wish, you can use WhatsApp to submit an actual audio message for broadcast!  The €2 donation can also be submitted online, via our iFundraise page at www.ifundraise.ie/claremorris or by simply clicking this handy button here…
